"Who said that Turkey doesn't make family melodramas? 'Annem', directed by Mustafa Kotan, has everything a 9 pm soap opera needs to be attractive: family intrigues, suffering mothers, ungrateful young people, diseases, complicated marriages. If it had a Rio de Janeiro setting and a character named Helena, it could be a Manoel Carlos plot. With the difference, of course, that here there is a little of Turkish culture in the story - such as the issue of marriage approved by parents - and an end that borders on a classic Mexican production from SBT, with open crying and a somewhat disproportionate tragic twist. So, in general, 'Annem' should move those who seek emotional plots, with a message in the middle, talking a lot about the importance of motherhood in our lives."
