Why watch this film?
'DNA' revolves around a woman with close ties to a beloved Algerian grandfather who protected her from a toxic home life as a child. When he dies, it triggers a deep identity crisis as tensions between her extended family escalate revealing new depths of resentment and bitterness.
"A delicate movie about self-discovery and reclaiming connections to one's roots. In the story, a woman deals with a family tragedy by connecting with her Algerian ancestors. The production is inspired by director Maïwenn's own story, who also stars in the feature and delivers a great performance alongside Louis Garrel. 'ADN' is a great family drama, not only about what we carry from our relatives but also about how those relationships affect the whole trajectory of our lives. Above all, it is a story of mourning and how death is also a renewal for those who remain alive. The great message is the importance of communication and that healthy relationships are often harder to maintain than we think."
